Wellington-based insurtech Montoux celebrates the opening of its third international office and new Director of Market Development, Shirley Chau.
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (July, 2019) - Montoux is rapidly expanding into new markets after celebrating success in both New Zealand and the US. In addition to its Wellington and New York offices, Montoux is opening a third office in Hong Kong in response to positive feedback, demand, and partnerships with life insurers in the region. The office will serve as a base for Montoux’s operations across north-east Asia
Montoux, the global leader in pricing transformation for life insurers, recently completed a significant funding round to help power its latest expansion. Leading the way is one of the latest additions to the Montoux team, Shirley Chau, whose extensive experience as a Business and Marketing Director in the Hong Kong market makes her a natural fit to grow Montoux’s presence in APAC with a major focus on Hong Kong and Taiwan.
On joining Montoux, Shirley says, “I’m looking forward to bringing a pioneering company like Montoux into such a vibrant market that I know so well. There’s significant activity and demand in Hong Kong for insurtech and the positive response we’ve already received makes it an ideal base for broader Asian market.”
The company was selected as one of three winners announced at Demo Day for MetLife Japan’s Collab 2.0 in 2017 and has been working with the life insurer ever since. Montoux also runs an event series with Deloitte Hong Kong, a program that’s mirrored in its New York event series, Insurtech NYC, and it’s Australasian counterpart Shifting Gears.
Co-CEO Geoff Keast personally welcomed Shirley to Montoux on a recent trip to the company’s Wellington office.

Montoux is looking forward to a number of events in the region within the next few months. Shirley and Geoff will be attending JSR Hong Kong and JSR Taipei in late July, with Geoff presenting in Taipei with a session entitled ‘The future use of analytics to enhance customer centricity of life insurance propositions’ alongside speakers from Ernst & Young, Milliman, KPMG, and more.
So, what’s next for Montoux? One might think welcoming Shirley Chau, Shelley Cox, the new Director of Customer Success, and new Board of Directors member Scott Houston, as well as launching the Hong Kong office is a lot, but there’s more to come. “Montoux is looking forward to announcing our entry into another global market very soon, one I’ve had the pleasure of working in for many years,” hinted Keast.
